The Trip to the Nurburgring - May 2008

After much late planning and sorting this year's euro trip was a great success. Having acquired the taste of euro cruising last year as a passenger in Richard's Mini Cooper S in the Shaz Ball 1000 a late decision to trade in the 207 and get something with a bit more oooomph was decided! A 2008 Focus ST which ordered a week or so before we were due to take on Europe for the second time! Yes this time I was THE DRIVER!

Contacted various companies similar to last year to do some free advertising and to get the cars looking all "Gumballed-up". Thanks to those that provided the kind words of support and the oh so important stickers for the cars. Decided purposely not to inform Nick of the new purchase even though he did become concerned whether my 1.4 Pug would be ok for the journey - I reassured Nick that all was well :)

On the Friday before we were due to leave myself and my cuz, Pete graced ourselves with Cost Co 40" Pizza and a bit of Gumball DVD'age to get us into the spirit of the things. Onwards to the Wharfedale accommodation for the night at Nicks (thanks Nick). I gave Nick a call to say the Pug has been "tweeked" a little. Words along the lines of "what the f*** have you done" were voiced by Nick, so I told him to wait outside his house to hear the "tweeks". Upon getting onto Nicks road, I gave the ST a bit of flooring releasing that amazing 5 cylinder burble - having only driven the car a few miles the brakes were not totally worn in which nearly saw Nick and his mum on the bonnet! Nick was impressed in how the Pug had been tweeked :) |
