Pug 207

1.4s 16v - 90bhp

The mini was sold and now with some 120bhp less I have this to keep me from public transport and to ferry me to / from Leeds :)

Decided to opt for the 2006 Pug over the likes of the usual small hatches like Corsa, Clio & Grande Puntos.

Basically almost anything I buy is based on how it looks and the Pug clearly is the winner in this case!

The drive is somewhat different to my mini lol and travelling back from Leeds underlined this!  But I won't slate Peugeot's revised edition of the well known and loved 206.

The interior cabin oozes better quality even though the  plastics are far from quality...if that makes sense.  The splashes of what appears aluminium are just silver plastic but this gives the cabin a "look" which appeals.

Standard fit on this model is the usual electric windows, air conditioning and CD player with audio navigation controls on the steering column (a must in any car).

The seats are fantastic and very comfortable.  Coming from hard leather racing seats in the mini this is a nice change to which my ASS is greatly thankful...not to mention my back!

Sadly I have two gripes with the car which I feel most Peugeot owners will agree - steering and gearbox.

The steering (I think is electronic power steering) and is ridiculously light to the point where motorway cruising can be a problem.  Coming back from Leeds on the M62 I found myself verging on the white lines and had to try really hard to hold the steering firmly straight.

The gearbox lacks direction.  There is no specific definition of the gear your in or going into!  It feels very loose and unsure.  Having said that my gear changes are somewhat smoother :) - I've tried downshifting like I used to in the mini but that really isn't for this car haha

Having said that the 207 is easy to drive and I think that's the point.  Peugeot have targeted their market well and most will love what the car has to offer.

Having gone from a German built Mini I must remain in love with the quality and craftsmanship they offer but hold on, the cost would have been another £10,000 - so for now, I'm content with the little 207 :)

Concept Designs

Here's how I would have done it :)

Simply removing the outer black plastic from the doors / bumpers gives it a slick look

Oversized rims and enlarged body panels - standard kit giving an oversized look which is how (I think) cars will be in the future - can't wait!  Peugeot have kinda taken this step like Audi with the front face being overexaggerated.

Oh and LED lights galore - how it should be!

The 207 is for sale via PistonHeads
